Rochelle is a Black woman living in Philadelphia. Though well-accomplished, Rochelle tried for over a year to buy a home. Time after time, she was rejected. Simultaneously, a White couple received a mortgage loan almost immediately with school loans and low income. Rochelle is not alone in this type of housing discrimination. Rochelle’s mortgage company, Philadelphia Mortgage Advisors, has a history of denying Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) loans.
